19TH JULY SEASON UPDATE

2 rounds to go and we are into the finals - WOW the season that was.

North Motton has been beaten convincingly on three occasions - this will mean an action packed top 4 play off.  The new Kindred Ales team have some very good players and I imagine that the final play off will be these two teams.  Who wins - the best team on the night. Not necessarily the team that finishes at the top of the ladder.

As I mention last year the Sprent Mighty Ducks in a couple of years will be a very strong team.  They have played very well this year and definitely will not finish bottom of the ladder.  I even suggest that at the rate they are going they will be playing in the finals.  They are all young, keen and trying hard each week to improve on their skills.  Improve they will.

I am very disappointed with the way i am receiving score sheets. Those of you sending them regularly and on time WELL DONE.  Those of you who leave them in books and cupboards or laying around on your car floor need to get them to me in the 5 day period as in our BYLAWS.  It is hard for me to update a ladder when I am missing information.  I cop it from the teams that want the information and have done the right thing.  YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE - Please lift your game.

Earlier  on in the season I wrote a letter on behalf of the Association in regard to the installation of the new heaters in the North Motton Hall which prevented the Motton team from playing there this year.  I received a response from the General Manager stating that the heaters would be hoisted up further.  I have advised the Motton team to practise there and let me know if it is suitable.  As yet I have had no indication from Motton on this.  It would be good if we could use the hall again next season.

A reminder that all clubs need to let me know the numbers for the dinner on September the 9th.  Time is getting near.  Everyone has had sufficient notice of this date and it would be good to see more support than last year.

All Clubs need to advise me of the proper names of their First Year Beginner Players - they are all eligible for the BEST FIRST YEAR PLAYER AWARD.

Also I would like to send best wishes to Andrew B from the Kindred Spirits and hope that his leg is healing nicely from his little incident in the South West. I hope it heals nicely and you are fit and well again for next season.

Kind Regards

Wendy

Secretary - Mid Season Update

Sorry, its taken me so long to do this.

Its hard to believe - we are half way through already.

North Motton definitely has a first rate team competing this year - excellent talent all the way through.  They have lost only once this season to Gunns Plains.  Well Done to the Plains team.

Second placed Kindred Ales could give them a run for their money when it is finals time.  Formerly a Turners Beach team it has revitalised with some new faces.  Once they gel as a team who knows.

We have some very talented first year players coming through.  I will mention 2 at this stage.  Young Emily Russell from the Sprent Muppets (only 13) - is showing some really good promise as a Junior Player and in a couple of years time I expect her to be competing as a strong 2 or even No 1 player.  Another lady who is doing really well is Rebecca from the Kindred Spirits.  She is having a ball and is on a par with Emily and both are in the running for the Best First Year Player of 2006.

The Dinner has been booked at the Ulverstone RSL for Saturday the 9th of September.  Sitdown from 6PM.  I believe there will be a band there.

I anticipate a greater turnout to the dinner than last year as it has been made known to all members from the start of the season and is mentioned on the roster.

Young Beau Mulraney is another very talented badminton player from North Motton who also tries out with the State Under 16 Soccer team every weekend.  His mother Trish is selling chocolates every badminton match and where ever she can to assist Beau in his sporting endeavours. I wish you all the best Beau, your a very fair and good badminton player.

This years trophies again will be towels with the winning teams names.

I am outstanding a couple of score sheets.  Could the clubs please ensure that the sheets are mailed to me every week.

I have had some feedback about the shuttles not lasting.  In tubes that are being supplied to you now.  I am including with them a piece of foam.  Please ensure that this is kept wet as it assists the shuttles from drying out too much.

Okay thats it for now.
